All Ontarians are encouraged to download the new COVID Alert app for free from the Apple and Google Play app stores.

The more people who have the app, the more effective the province will be at stopping the spread of COVID-19.

COVID Alert supports early detection, testing and self-isolation and will help keep Ontarians safe as the province gradually reopens and social interactions increase.

Ontarians who test positive for COVID-19 can choose to send a notification to other app users who have been near them, without sharing any personal information, enabling them to take action sooner.  Users who receive a notification that they may have been exposed to someone who has tested positive for COVID-19 will also receive appropriate recommendations based on current public health guidance.

The app does not know where or when someone encounters another user, and does not collect or share any user’s location, name, address, contacts or health information.

The app does not replace contact tracing; it complements contract tracing done by local public health units.
