Half of Ontario Adults Now Vaccinated with Second Dose

Published on July 12, 2021

Ontario has reached another significant milestone in the vaccine rollout, with over half of Ontario adults having received their second dose of the vaccine ahead of schedule – ensuring the strongest possible protection against COVID-19.

Thanks to our health care heroes, Ontario ranks as one of the world’s leading jurisdictions for population percentage to have received their first dose:

  • More than 78% of adults aged 18 and over have received at least a first dose
  • Over 16 million doses of the vaccine have been administered to date

Our work doesn’t stop here, and we will continue to work with Ontario's health system partners to ensure every eligible Ontarian who wishes to get the vaccine can receive one.

Ontario continues to protect Delta hot spots through targeted supports, including supporting community and workplace clinics and pop-up teams and additional vaccination staff, as well as delivering more than 772,000 vaccine doses from June 14 to July 5 to hot spots in addition to their regular per capita allocations.

As we prepare for Step Three of Roadmap to Reopen, we encourage all Ontarians ages 12 and over to book an appointment as soon as you can and continue following public health guidance so that we can put this pandemic behind us.
