Newmarket-Aurora Celebrates Seniors Month

Published on June 08, 2021

June is Seniors Month. We honour and appreciate the enormous contributions that older adults have made, and continue to make, to our province. This year’s theme is “Stay Safe, Active and Connected,” and the government is keeping seniors safe during the pandemic by improving programs that serve their unique needs.

Inactivity and social isolation can negatively impact older Ontarians. That is why this government has increased, and expanded, the programs available for our aging parents, family members, friends and neighbours so that they can stay healthy and socially connected in our communities.

Seniors Month is a good opportunity to raise awareness about the many supports and resources available for Ontario’s seniors. Our communities are strengthened when our older adults are able to stay active and connected locally. These supports also enhance the overall wellbeing and quality of life for our older adults.
