Ontario Enables Out of Province Vaccinations to be Registered with Public Health Units

Published on June 30, 2021

As the government announced last week, individuals who received their first dose or both doses of a COVID-19 vaccine outside of the province are now able to register their vaccination through their local public health unit. In Newmarket-Aurora that is York Public Health.

This is exciting news that will ensure all eligible Ontarians are able to receive their second dose of a COVID-19 vaccine at an accelerated interval. In addition, this will ensure the province has a complete picture of how many Ontarians have received a first and second dose of the vaccine as we continue to exceed our vaccination thresholds for Steps One and Two of Ontario’s Roadmap to Reopen.

If you live in Newmarket-Aurora and received your first dose outside of Ontario, you are welcome to book your second dose appointment once eligible. Ensure you bring your vaccine documentation of proof of first dose with you to your second dose appointment.

York Region is currently finalizing an online form for individuals who received their first and second dose outside of Ontario. This form will allow residents to upload your COVID-19 immunization record to have it documented in the Provincial system, without using the York Region call centre. We anticipate this form will be available in early July.

Every dose administered brings us one step closer to the end of the pandemic.
