Ontario Government Supporting Agricultural and Horticultural Societies

Published on July 14, 2021

Ontario's agricultural and horticultural societies play a vital role in communities across rural and sub-urban Ontario. Their exciting fall fairs and exhibits are an excellent way to bring the community together, educate them on the importance of agriculture and showcase rich longstanding traditions.

That’s why we’re providing an additional $1.1 million, on top of the $5 million announced in January, to help eligible agricultural and horticultural societies offset financial losses caused by the cancellation of fall fairs and other events because of COVID-19.

The Ontario government will provide up to $5,000 for each eligible agriculture society and up to $1,500 for each eligible horticultural society, equal to their 2019 grant.

This support is just the latest investment from this government to support Ontario's agriculture sector and rural communities during COVID-19, and will ensure these societies can operate future fall fairs and exhibits and participate in our future economic recovery.
