Ontario Improving Washroom Rights for Truckers and Delivery Workers

Published on October 22, 2021

Delivery workers, couriers and truckers have kept products moving and our economy going through this pandemic. Unfortunately, many of these drivers have reported the businesses they deliver or pick up products from are denying them access to the company’s washroom.

That is why the government is proposing to require business owners allow workers to use their washrooms. Allowing these workers to use washrooms in businesses they serve is a matter of decency. It’s the right thing to do.

This would be subject to any health and safety concerns, in addition to other exceptions.

Providing these hardworking men and women with access to washrooms is a small change that will make a big difference, so they can do their jobs with the dignity and respect they deserve.

Today’s announcement is part of the government’s broader efforts to protect and support vulnerable workers, such as those who have kept essential goods moving and the economy going through the pandemic.
