Ontario Providing In-Demand Skills Training to Over 15,000 People

Published on September 04, 2020

As the economy reopens, people across Ontario need help finding jobs, improving their skills or starting a new career. There will continue to be great demand for workers in the skilled trades, which are challenging, exciting and often well-paid careers.

The government is making an investment of $37 million to help more than 15,000 people upgrade their skills and train for new jobs. Students, job seekers, apprentices, mid-career workers, newcomers, Indigenous people, and youth will all benefit from the training provided through 86 projects in communities across the province.

Building and construction is one of the biggest drivers of Ontario’s economic engine. We are supporting this industry with $450,000 for the Provincial Building and Construction Trades Council of Ontario (PBCTCO) to give women opportunities to learn about career opportunities in the skilled trades and for health and safety training.
