Phase 2 of DriveTest Centres Reopening Plan

Published on July 31, 2020

On August 4, 2020, the Ontario government and its service provider, DriveTest, will resume road testing for class G2, road testing for all motorcycle licences and expand commercial driver road tests to 42 locations across the province as part of the government’s gradual, staggered approach to resuming driver testing in Ontario.

This is in addition to the G1, M1 and commercial road-testing services that have been available since June 22, 2020 across the province and is part of our gradual, staggered approach to restoring full drive testing services by September 2020.

To reduce crowding and support physical distancing, most DriveTest centres will continue to serve customers for knowledge tests, driver’s licence exchanges and driver’s licence upgrades based on when they were born – January to June birthdays one week; July to December birthdays the next. Please visit DriveTest.ca to plan your visit prior to arriving at a DriveTest centre.

Please be patient with the new requirements for physical distancing and enhanced sanitation at DriveTest centres. These new health and safety protocols are necessary to protect pubic and employee safety during the ongoing COVID-19 outbreak.

The government encourages people who can wait to get a driver’s licence to delay visiting a DriveTest centre to help maintain physical distancing and reducing crowding as the centres reopen. The validity of all driver licences has been extended – no one will lose their licence as a result of COVID-19.
