Providing Accessible Transportation for Vaccine Appointments

Published on March 24, 2021

The key to defeating COVID-19 is ensuring every person who wants a vaccine gets a vaccine. A lack of mobility or accessible transportation should not prevent anyone from getting vaccinated.

That is why the government is investing $3.7M million in 2021–22 to help remove barriers and provide safe, accessible transportation for persons with disabilities and older adults with limited mobility to travel to their COVID-19 vaccination appointments. We will literally drive you to your vaccine appointment.

The government will work with local communities and public health units to implement this vital service for those who need assistance. Details on how seniors and people with disabilities can access transportation for vaccine appointments will be available in the coming weeks.

Our Budget on Wednesday will outline the government’s plan to finish the job we started one year ago and defeat COVID-19. Vaccinating every one who wants a vaccine is the key to getting the job done.
